Taught in person at the Art League School in historic Old Town Alexandria, VA. Join me for a weekend of drawing the human figure.
Our aim in this figurative drawing workshop is to understand how the movement of the body affects the pose and to practice seeing, understanding, and rendering human form. What is going on beneath the surface of the skin that shapes how we draw the human figure? Why does the body look the way it does in certain poses? With a live model we will explore the movement and motion of the body in order to develop our conceptual and observational understanding of form, structure, and morphology. What is the skeleton doing in a specific pose? Which muscles do we need to be aware of in order to render dynamic movement? How is the body rotating, extending, and flexing and how does this translate into better drawings?
